What to Expect in U11 Softball

As your player moves up from U9, U11 softball offers exciting new opportunities for growth, competition, and fun. Whether you’re looking for a more competitive experience or want to continue enjoying the game in a community setting, there’s a place for everyone in U11!

U11C vs U11 Rep – What’s the Difference?

At the U11 level, AMFA offers two streams: U11C and U11 Outlaws Rep. Both options build on the fundamentals introduced in U9, but differ in their level of commitment, schedule, and competition.

U11C (Community)

U11C is a great option for families looking for a balanced introduction to player-pitch softball with a lighter schedule. U11C teams play real ball games with umpires against other teams from Abbotsford, Chilliwack, and Hope

    • Season: Mid-March to late June (games begin in mid April
    • Pitching Format: Modified coach-pitch to start (coach pitches after 3 balls in each count), transitioning to full player-pitch by mid-May
    • Games: Tuesdays and Thursdays, April through June
    • Practices: Once per week
    • Tournaments: Most teams participate in 1–2 local tournaments

This is a fun, developmental environment with a focus on learning and enjoyment.

U11 Outlaws Rep

U11 Rep is for players ready to take their game to the next level. These teams are selected through tryouts and train throughout the fall and winter to prepare for a competitive spring season. AMFA aims to have 2 balanced teams made up of athletes from both eligible birth years each season.

    • Season: Training begins in September with games running through June. Tryouts take place over 2 days after Labour Day weekend.
    • Pitching Format: Full player-pitch all season
    • Games: Mondays and Wednesdays, April through June
    • Practices: 2–3 times per week, including specialized hitting and pitching instruction
    • Tournaments: Teams participate in 3–5 tournaments

Players in the Rep program will develop advanced skills, game knowledge, and teamwork in a supportive, high-energy environment.

Tryouts for Rep Begin in September
