What is the U11 Tournament-Focused Team?
This is a new pilot initiative from AMFA designed for athletes who love softball but cannot commit to the regular Tuesday and Thursday league game schedule due to other sports.
Instead of playing a full league season, this team focuses primarily on tournament participation.
Why is AMFA offering this pilot?
This initiative reflects the reality that many athletes participate in multiple sports. The goal is to keep softball accessible while supporting balanced athletic development.
Who is this program for?
This option is ideal for:
- Multi-sport athletes
- Players unable to attend regular league game nights
- Families looking for a flexible way to stay involved in softball
How does registration work?
Players register with AMFA just like any other team. This pilot is simply a different participation model within the association.
How is this different from a regular team?
Key differences include:
No regular Tuesday/Thursday league games
Focus on tournament play
Flexible practice scheduling based on athlete availability
How many tournaments will the team attend?
Teams will apply for approximately 3–4 U11C tournaments during the season. While acceptance into external tournaments is not guaranteed, AMFA’s own Spirit of the Game Tournament in Abbotsford will have space available for AMFA teams.
Are there spots available?
Yes. One team is already formed with confirmed coaches, and a few roster spots remain open.
What if there is more interest than available spots?
If demand exceeds current availability, AMFA may explore forming additional tournament-focused teams. This would depend on volunteer coaches stepping forward.

If you have any questions about the registration process please reach out to Wendy Lanphear at 604-309-6361 or registrar@amfa.ca
